Personal Poetry: I Have invented you

Posted on August 21st, 2002 filed in Personal Poetry and Poems

(This poem is about inventing your perfect someone!)

I Have invented you

With the ink of my heart

And the stars of my night

I have invented you….

With the tears of my soul

And the dreams of my imagination

I have invented you…

And I fell madly in love with you

Until I got to know you

And I had to leave you.

Jane (Selma Blair) is quite depresesed following a recent relationship failure that her roommates Christina (Cameron Diaz) and Courtney (Christina Applegate) decide to take her dancing with the mission for her to find ‘Mr. Right now’ instead of ‘Mr. Right’. Christina then briefly meets Peter and ends up quite liking him. When she finds herself thinking of him incessantly , and at Courtney’s insisitence, she starts a road trip to a family wedding that Peter will be attending.

This is a delightful and awesomely funny adult comedy and is markedly enjoyable and entertaining. While filled with crude and explicit sexual humour, and thus not for everyone, it is shockfull of non stop laughter and dizzying ‘let’s have fun’ energy.

Vincent: And you know what they call a… a… a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in Paris?
Jules: They don’t call it a Quarter Pounder with cheese?
Vincent: No man, they got the metric system. They wouldn’t know what the fuck a Quarter Pounder is.
Jules: Then what do they call it?
Vincent: They call it a Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese. What do they call a Big Mac?
Vincent: Well, a Big Mac’s a Big Mac, but they call it le Big-Mac.
Jules: Le Big-Mac. Ha ha ha ha. What do they call a Whopper?
Vincent: I dunno, I didn’t go into Burger King.

If I should die this very moment, I wouldn’t fear
for I’ve never known completeness like being here.

Wrapped in the warmth of you,
loving every breath of you.

Why live life from dream to dream
and dread the day when dreaming ends.

—Satine (Nicole Kidman), Moulin Rouge; from the song Gorecky
