Week 3 Begins

I must say that it was with significant anxiety and anticipation that I stepped on the weight scale today. I had earlier promised myself that I shall not be discouraged if weight remains the same and that my faith in what I am doing will not be shaken.

I was relieved to find out that I have indeed dropped 3 lbs. Hallellujah!

I am now more energized and more determined to keep on going.

I needed that tiny boost in motivation.

My chest numbers at the gym improved significantly as well and that was even more surprising. I knew that I was below my ability but did not expect a major improvement that quickly. It seems that weekend of rest did its trick on me.

With all variables remaining same as last week, I lifted 120 lbs on chest press (up from 80 lbs), 110 lbs on incline press (up from 70 lbs) and 90 lbs on Fly Maneuver (up from 70 lbs).

The biceps numbers remain unchanged however. My trainer believes however that my form has improved in this regard. So maybe I did improve after all.

I am hoping that I will continue to see improvement on other days as well.

When Joel (Jim Carrey) discovers that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had him erased from her brain, he decides on reciprocating. He contacts Lacuna, the company that specializes in this procedure, to have her wiped out from his memory. Halfway through the process however, and as he relives the sweet and warm moments of him and Clementine, he realizes that he actually cherishes these memories and thus wants to keep them. But how will he be able to communicate his change of heart to the Lacuna techs before it is too late?

1) Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich) landed on the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” title from an Alexander Pope’s poem, about an ill fated romance between monk Abelard and nun Heloise. That same poem was earlier used in Kaufman’s ‘Being John malkovich’ when John Cusack has a puppet show with Abelard and Heloise as the leads.

(This Poem was my impression of these ‘Cool Gangs’ after observation and research… )

Week 2 Ends

I completed another 4 days training cycle today. All went well and all numbers remain unchanged. My trainer believes this is normal as my body is readjusting to exercise. He expects musce memory to kick in and that I should gradually start seeing my numbers improve.

I have not weighed myself since Monday as per my decision to measure my weight once a week, every Monday immediately after waking up. This I find eseential for consistency and preventing neurotic obsession with weight measurement.

I am doing well on my nutrition and have abided mostly by my new eating lifestyle. Sweet cravings are becoming almost non existent. Junk food is now completely phased out. I do not even desire french fries anymore. That by itself is an achievement. I hope that I will be nicely rewarded on Monday when I again check my weight.

I started the second week of my ‘Must get back in shape’ mission.

Even though I was not anticipating any drop in weight, it sure would have been nice to find one :) . Unfortunately, that did not happen but that’s expected.

My weights were identical to one week ago. I was sore all weekend but am feeling good today.

This is the final day of workout this week. On Monday morning, I will check my weight again. I do not expect any serious change for at least another week in either my weight or strength. But I will hopefully start seeing improvement on both fronts in the week after.

We did 3 shoulder exercises each 4 sets x 10 repetitions with 1.5 minutes rest.

Shoulder Press machine: 90 lbs
Seated Lateral raise: 50 lbs
Rear Deltoid: 90 lbs

As for abs,

Forward Crunches: 3×20
Reverse Crunches: 3×15
